Submission & Programming Guidelines
Welcome to Radio Walden, the student community radio station at Goethe University Frankfurt (Campus Westend). We are an open platform by students, for students, dedicated to music, discussions, and creative audio. Whether you want to host a regular show, record a piece, or collaborate, here is how to get involved.
1. Our Space: Record, Broadcast & Collaborate
Radio Walden isn't just an online stream—it's a physical, collaborative hub on campus equipped for audio production.
- Use the Room Together: Our campus space is open for student creators to hang out, co-work, share ideas, and build community. Come by to brainstorm or help manage the station.
- In-Room Recording: Don't have equipment at home? Use our room to record your podcast episodes, interviews, audio essays, or voiceovers. We provide the space to get your ideas down on tape.
- Live Sessions: We strongly encourage live broadcasts! Whether it’s a talk show, panel discussion, poetry reading, or live DJ set straight from the room, you can book a slot to go live on air.
2. What We Are Looking For
We welcome a wide variety of audio formats, both pre-recorded and live:
- Music Shows & DJ Sets: Curated playlists, genre spotlights, live mixes, or music deep-dives.
- Talk & Discussion: Campus news, student life debates, cultural commentary, or academic discussions.
- Creative Audio & Text: Audio essays, sound art, poetry, or text pitches for our Website Blog and Reading Lists.
3. Submission & Pitching Process
- Step 1: Pitch Your Concept
Send a short email to radiowalden [at] proton [dot] me. Let us know your format (talk, music, mix), expected duration, and whether you plan to record in our room, host a live session, or submit a pre-recorded file. - Step 2: Book the Room or Deliver Assets
If you need the room to record or broadcast live, we will coordinate a calendar slot. If you are producing independently, upload your final files to a cloud platform (WeTransfer, Google Drive, Dropbox) and email us the link. - Step 3: Provide Metadata
Include a 2–3 sentence description of your episode, a tracklist (if applicable), and your social media handles for promotion.
4. Technical & Community Standards
- Audio Specs (For Files): MP3 or WAV format, minimum 192 kbps (322 kbps preferred). Please normalize your audio to -14 LUFS with peaks below -1 dBFS. Name files using the template:
ShowName_Episode_YourName.mp3. - Safety & Respect: Zero tolerance for hate speech, discrimination, racism, sexism, homophobia, or transphobia. Keep discussions constructive and inclusive, both on air and in our physical space.
- Copyright & Language: Ensure your sets comply with student-radio frameworks. Submissions are welcome in both German and English (or other languages with a short summary provided).
